Summary
UNIT SUMMARY: ER-7 at Northwest Hospital currently sees over 60,000 patients per year and has 49 beds. The department treats major and minor illnesses, typically related to cardiac and behavioral health. Additionally, ER-7 staff may provide care for orthopedic injuries or minor trauma. ER-7 has a rapid care area as well, designated for minor illnesses. Staff members of ER-7 are outgoing and positive, and must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, and be able to effectively implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.
JOB SUMMARY: Functions under the supervision of the RN in a cooperative effort with the health care team to assist in providing a variety of patient care related duties. Maintains the standards of nursing care for all patients and implements the policies and procedures of the Emergency Department, Hospital, and Nursing Department.
REQUIREMENTS: Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills; High School diploma or GED equivalent; Less than one year experience; Basic computer skills; Medical terminology; Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition; Orthopedic splinting skills; Phlebotomy/medlock insertion skills; CPR Certification; Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition Test; Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant License.
